A Couple of Pictures From This Morning
Still Around
Sorry I didn’t get a chance to update much last week, Daniel kept me pretty busy during his spring break. That is over now and he is back at school and I am in the middle of spring cleaning this week, but I wanted to share a quick picture.
These are three little chicks that hatched today in Daniel’s classroom. His teacher brought in some eggs a few weeks back and they’ve been watching them in an incubator and making sure the temperature stays at 99 degrees. All the kids were so happy when they got to school this morning and one had hatched. During the course of the day, two more made their way out of their eggs and one more was working on it. Daniel is anxious to get to school tomorrow and see if anymore have come out, I’ll keep you updated.
Unrelated to that, check back on Friday…there is going to be a treat!
Also, May 6th, Daniel will be competing in the Karate Challenge, if you’d like to come watch him, just let me know and I’ll get you all the details.
What’s Been Keeping The Sidlingers Busy (Or How I Spent My Husband’s Bonus)
Remember Daniel’s BRIGHT red playroom?
We tore out the old carpet, installed carpet tiles, primed over the red paint, painted the walls grey, painted eight chalkboard squares on the walls, installed cabinets (and countertop) and assembled a new shelf.
I’m still in the process of moving toys back into the room, but it’s difficult when Daniel is at home (he’s on spring break this week). I’m trying to get rid of a few things, but he freaks out if he sees me put a Happy Meal toy from 2.5 years ago anywhere close to the Goodwill box.
Alien Goo
Daniel: Uh oh, my blaster is out of alien goo!
Me: Oh no, where do you get more alien goo?
Daniel: From aliens, of course!
Four Words
Graduation Gown, Tuxedo, Cowboy
Tune in next month to find out what on earth I’m talking about.
Karate Update
During the time Daniel (and the rest of the family) was sick, Daniel was supposed to graduate from a Junior Orange belt to an Orange belt in karate. Sadly, we had to skip the graduation, as not to infect the entire karate population of Southern Davidson/Northern Williamson counties.
If you are not familiar with karate curriculum for young children, it would be a good time to let you know that graduating to a full Orange belt is a big deal. You see, when you graduate to Junior Orange, you get to move to the big Dojo (with real chairs for the parents!) and you get to start learning how to spar. But, when you graduate to full Orange, you get to purchase the rest of your gear. You get to wear a helmet and a rib guard and a mouthpiece and you really get to spar. You get to punch and kick and block and you’ve actually got people encouraging you to do so!
Last week was Daniel’s first week sparring and this week I remembered to bring along the camera. Here’s my two favorites (and you can click the link to see the rest):
Daniel psyching out his opponent.
Not so much the best picture of Daniel, but check out the kid he is fighting in the mirror.
