Kindergarten Diaries, July 27

We have the Lunchbox (bag).
We are still negotiating the terms on the Backpack.
I have also managed to purchase 4 new pairs of pants, 6 new shirts and 12 pairs of socks.  Still no actual supplies yet, but that will be happening this weekend.

18 days.

Getting Harder to Live in Denial

Now that vacation is over and we’re back to everyday life (yeah sure, I’ve unpacked everything), it’s time to focus on something else.

Kindergarten.

Daniel starts school in 26 days.  I have his supply list in my purse should we happen upon things while we’re out.  We’ve started purchasing some new pieces of clothing and he has a bright, shiny new pair of Superman tennis shoes.  Last night, I bought some Spider-man emblazoned sandwich bags.  On Sunday night we will start easing back into a more rigid bedtime and morning routine.

I can’t really pretend anymore that this summer will last forever and he will not grow up.

Vacation, Over :(

We are all safely home and trying to get back to our everyday life.  Which is hard when vacation was so great and the beach isn’t down the road a bit, but we’re slowly getting there (I actually took the suitcases downstairs and emptied them into the washing machine this morning).

We had such a good time and all have our favorite parts.  I will try to remember them all;

First, Daniel really got the hang of swimming while we were there and stood in line by himself to go down a water slide into the pool.  We are really proud of him for that.

Sand dollars, while I didn’t actually get one myself, I learned how to find them.  And I swear we didn’t take any home with us! ;)

Bikes!  Hilton Head has bike paths all over the place and plenty of bikes for rent.  We really enjoyed riding together as a family and are planning on getting some bikes of our own soon.

The dolphin tour was really cool.  It was nice to be out on a boat for a couple of hours and learn about the island.  Seeing several dolphins was really cool too, but it was even cooler to see Daniel see dolphins.

Plenty of good food, beautiful sunsets, Daniel in a dance contest, magicians, seeing so many stars at night, poker games, sugary cereal and visiting with family.

It was a wonderful time and we thank the KS Sidlingers for inviting us!

We have over 400 vacation pictures, so instead of posting them all here, click here.

Vacation, Day 2

Savannah is Beautiful!

We’re in Hilton Head now and planning on the beach today.  The internet is a little spotty, so I’m not sure when I’ll be able to update (there is a Starbucks here though, so I should be able to at some point), but what pictures we have so far are on http://www.flickr.com/photos/thesidlingers/ (although none are labeled yet, so you’ll just have to guess what stuff is for now).

Stay tuned….
