Mums are for sale, there are signs for the State Fair all over the place, Pumpkin Spice Latte is available at Starbucks, Target is clearing out the summer stuff and college football starts this weekend.
I am a happy woman.

Today is Gray Day at school and Daniel is excited because it is
his turn to take snacks. I signed up for Gray Day because I knew that most people probably wouldn’t want to tackle trying to come up with a gray snack. But you know me…
Elephant Cookies!
It’s a little over 4 minutes long, so it might take a while to load for slower connections. Enjoy!
Didn’t mean to leave you hanging yesterday, it was a busy afternoon and we were all worn all by the evening.
The first day of Kindergarten went well. He likes his teacher and his favorite part of the day was eating in the cafeteria.
Yesterday (today too) was a half day, so by the time we dropped him off and ran a few errands, it was time to go back and get in the car line. We waited in that for an hour before we finally got Daniel. Everyone has said that the line won’t be that bad after this week, so we’ll see….it’s definitely a new experience.
I’ve haven’t uploaded any pictures to the flickr site yet, but here are a few from yesterday:

For those of you who don’t watch hours and hours of Food Network every week, Alton Brown is the star of Good Eats, Feasting on Asphalt and the host of Iron Chef America. He is my culinary hero (David and Daniel enjoy him too). Yesterday he held a seminar at the Opryland Hotel and we got to go see him (thank you David)!
After the seminar, where we learned all about turkey, there was a meet and greet reception. Where we got to meet him, get his autograph and sample some of his recipes!! It was awesome! We were supposed to get an advanced copy of his new book, due out in October, but there was a delay with the publisher, so those are being mailed to us shortly. We did receive stickers with his picture on them that he signed for us to put in the books when we recieve them and they had a photographer there to take pictures to make up for the book not being there.
It was a great day and a nice distraction from thinking about tomorrow’s events (I can’t believe he’s starting Kindergarten!!)
That’s his teacher. His very first, official, real school teacher. We got to meet her briefly yesterday evening. Our initial impression is good, we are happy he got her.
We are all anxiously awaiting Monday morning.
GAH!
Happy Birthday to Aunt Honey and (TN) Ashley!
We love you both and wish you a wonderful day!
Thanks to Tommy and Austin for some great garden treats! I was able to make 6 pints of pickles and 4 pints of corn and pepper relish!
