‘Twas the Friday before Christmas and all through our home,
nothing was happening because we weren’t alone.
The children at school had all had a bug
and decided to share it, like a big cruddy hug.
Their parents, you see had sent them to school
despite of their fevers and infectious drool.
So the first day of break,
was spent laying in bed and attending to aches
and cooling off heads.
Hands being washed and Lysol sprayed,
in hopes of keeping the virus at bay.
Hydration is key in this kind of illness,
as is having a trash can for unexpected emesis.
(speaking of which, Santa, when you’re here on the Eve…
my car could use some new floor mats, if you know what I mean)
Seems our only break is that Gatorade
is on sale at the grocery and the fever, low grade.
So rapid I googled each stomach flu
to see how they last and what I should do
I questioned his symptoms as soon as they came.
and typed them in the computer, each by their name.
Now, Fever! Now, Aches! Now General Malaise!
On Vomit! On Fatigue! On Tired Eyes that are Glazed!
To the end of this virus! To the end right now!
Go away! Go away! Go away! NOW!
With two days to go before the holiday arrives,
we just want good health for the boy who is five.
(Yes, I know he’s almost six, but not for twelve days…
I’m trying not to think of that just yet…OK?)
So our wish for you, as this that I write,
Healthy Christmas to All and may you all be all right!
