Wishing for Snow

Today anything could be going on in the world and in this city, this neighborhood, this school zone and especially in this house, no one would know.  Right now, we are all thinking about one thing.

Snow.

We’ve been let down so many times by rampant winter forecasts, that it’s almost abusive to even consider this one might come through for us.  But we do…we all watch and wait and wait and watch…and usually end up waiting some more.  And it never comes.

My official position is that we are already jinxed because they placed us under a Winter Weather Advisory…it never happens when they do that.

I thought my excitement of snows days were gone when school ended for me, but I find myself even more excited now.  And I’m not really sure who is wishing for it more at school, the kids or the teachers.  I was helping out at school today and kids were decked out in snow-themed clothing, as well as teachers.  Students would come up to me and tell me that it might snow tonight, teachers would have 5 minute conversations about it.  Teachers led children in all forms of snow-dancing and instructed them to sleep with their pajamas inside out.  This afternoon, every class room I walked past had the Weather Channel on.  It was on too in the library, where teachers would stop in and ask if there was any new news.  We all lamented the previous close calls and promised to keep our fingers crossed.

If it doesn’t snow tonight, I might cry.

Now, I give you The Snow Dance…
